Our Providers

Brian McDowell, DO

Dr. McDowell loves a very specific shade of orange (Pantone 166C) and blue! His favorite animals are dogs. In fact, he has four of his own: 1 Irish Wolfhound, 2 Shih Tzus, and 1 Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie mix breed). He has a love for art, music (Classic rock and classical tunes are his favorite), and reading almost anything he can get his hands on. He believes coffee is the nectar of life and if he could bring a slice of Hawaii to Oklahoma, he would be living the life of his dreams.

Dr. McDowell has always wanted to be a physician. If you ask his siblings, he was usually reading books while they played ball. He spent some time doing biomedical research before starting medical school. During his schooling, he fell in love with pediatrics and “never looked back.” Dr. McDowell received recognition as Oklahoma State University Distinguished Alumni in 2017.

When asked what his biggest accomplishment as a provider was, he replied, “The biggest honor of my life is to be entrusted with your children’s lives and health. It has enriched my life beyond measure.”

Shannan Bond, DO

Dr. Bond loves every color you may find in Mexico sunsets. She has two puppies she considers her favorite: their names are Jake and Charlie. She loves being outside whether she is hiking, on the lake, or just lounging on the beach. She really enjoys chocolate chip cookies and Mexican food! But her favorite thing to do is spend time with her husband and three children.

Dr. Bond has wanted to be a provider ever since she was a little girl. Her mom was a nurse and she wanted to take care of babies and help make children healthy just like her mom. Becoming a doctor was an easy choice for Dr. Bond because she loves to learn. In 1988, she moved from Nebraska to Oklahoma where she attended University of Tulsa for her undergrad and completed her medical degree at Oklahoma State University.

Dr. Bond considers her biggest accomplishment to be her 20 years as a provider. She has built very special relationships with her patients. She really enjoys and is thankful for the opportunity to be trusted with children’s health and to watch them grow into wonderful young adults.

Christopher Hebertson, MD

Fun facts about Dr. Hebertson: His favorite color is Crimson (of course!) and when it comes to choosing a favorite animal, he can’t. He just loves anything from the sea.

Dr. Hebertson was born with a cleft lip and palate causing him to have early exposure to surgeons, pediatricians, and therapists from the time he was born to around 3rd grade. His constant interaction with these professionals fed his desire to be a doctor and to take care of children.

Dr. Hebertson considers his biggest accomplishment as a provider to be any time he’s able to establish meaningful connections with his patients and their families. When asked why families should choose him to treat their children, he says, “I will always do my best to be optimistic, honest, direct, and treat your child as if they were my own.”

It’s also worth mentioning that Dr. Hebertson graduated Cum Laude from Northeastern State University in 1999 and then went to medical school where he became a National Service Corps Scholar!

Melissa Ellingson, APRN

Melissa grew up in Maryland. She worked as a registered nurse for many years in the Hematology/Oncology & Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Melissa’s clinical interests include allergy and immunology, endocrine disorders, and mental health.

Melissa became a provider because she has always been drawn to science and health. Not to mention, she loves making a difference in the lives of others.

Melissa loves to travel, doing crafts, and spending time with her family.

Shannon Kay White, DNP

Shannon’s favorite colors are turquoise and red. She loves sea turtles! Outside of providing for children at work, her hobbies include reading, spending time with her family, and watching her kids participate in their activities.

Shannon has worked as a nurse on pediatrics for over 18 years, in multiple departments of the Children’s hospital as a Clinical Resource Nurse and bedside nurse, working with patients, families and other nurses with a special focus on a patient/family education and quality improvement. Her favorite part about her job is when the children want to be held by her or when they give her a big hug before they leave. Also, she also enjoys creating a bond with parents. Families love seeing Shannon in the clinic because she treats each child/patient as if they were her own.

Sara Buntin, APRN

Sara enjoys watching her kids play in their sporting events and spending time relaxing at home especially when she gets to watch OU football with her family. Pink is Sara’s favorite color! If she could have one superpower, it would be to travel back and forth in time.

Sara has been working in pediatrics for a total of 14 years. She has three kids of her own so she can relate to parents as both a parent and as a provider. She prides herself in treating all the children she encounters like her very own and being patient with them and their families.

Sara always knew she wanted to work with children. After starting her career in nursing, she decided to put her career on hold to start her own family. After working as a nurse for many years and seeing the impact other providers had on their patients, she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.

Kelsey Lillard, APRN

Kelsey’s favorite color is blue and she loves dogs. In her free time, she loves to travel (especially to NYC), participate in Crossfit, hike, and run. She is admittedly addicted to iced coffee and enjoys reading and Broadway musicals.

When asked why she became a provider, Kelsey will tell you, “I was initially a vocal music education major, but the summer before I started undergrad, I felt called to pursue medicine. I had seen first-hand as family members and friends walked through healthcare challenges and I knew I wanted to help make the darkest moments, a little bit easier.” Kelsey initially started in Adult Neurological-Medical ICU and while she loved it, she knew she wanted to work in Pediatrics. Kelsey wants her current and future patients to know that her role as your child’s primary care provider is to “empower, equip, and promote health.” She wants to walk beside you and watch your child grow, mature, and develop.

Ana Marshall, APRN

Ana’s favorite color is blue. She loves all animals, especially horses and dogs. When Ana isn’t working, her favorite thing to do is spend time outside with her family or travel! Her career in medicine started out as a tech in a nursing home, where she continued her nursing passion, which lead her to where she is now. She spent several years working in the ER and switched to pediatrics when she started graduate school.

During a medical mission trip to Nicaragua, Ana quickly understood her passion in life, as that mission trip showed her the single most fulfilling thing was helping a child. As a pediatric nurse practitioner, she knows she has found her calling in life!

Amy Sommer, APRN

Amy’s favorite color is red. She has a fur baby named Brooks and she hopes one day he becomes a certified therapy dog. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, watching/playing sports, and spending time with family and friends.

Amy was a registered nurse serving the pediatric hematology/oncology population for 5 years before pursuing a career as a pediatric nurse practitioner. She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Central Oklahoma and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama. Amy’s favorite part of being your child’s PCP is getting to partner with the family and equipping them to promote health. Amy can’t wait to meet you and watch your child grow!

Chelsey Bakker, APRN-CNP

Chelsey’s favorite color is blue. She has a thing for school, having earned three different bachelor’s degrees prior to completing her master’s. Work experience includes a brief round with pain management as a radiologic technologist prior to attending nursing school. She completed that in 2014 and scored a sweet gig at The Children’s Hospital at Saint Francis, where she stayed for eight years. The last three years at the hospital were spent concurrently with the completion of the family nurse practitioner program at The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

After deciding she never really wants to grow up, so the closest thing to sticking with her dream to be Peter Pan was staying with pediatrics. She has been with Owasso Pediatrics since October of 2022 and is enjoying caring for your children. One of her favorite things is coaching parents through their child’s illnesses, providing knowledge and experience to offer peace of mind and tricks to keep in their back pockets.

Despite having three degrees from OU and only one from OSU she still bleeds orange. She enjoys visiting Stillwater with friends and family any chance she gets. She has two daughters who keep her on her toes. In her spare time, she enjoys reading a great book, drinking all of the coffee, and going to trivia nights with her husband.

Stacie Cortright, APRN-CPNP

Stacie’s favorite color is orange-specifically Oklahoma State orange! She enjoys doing anything outside, whether it be biking, hiking or simply lounging in the sun. She loves dark chocolate, requires coffee and believes laughter is always the best medicine! Her very favorite thing is spending time with her husband, three kids and two dogs!

Before becoming a provider, Stacie worked as a nurse in pediatrics for over 16 years. During this time, she worked in various areas of the Children’s Hospital at Saint Francis, including Hematology/Oncology, ER and the Children’s Day Hospital. She also earned a master’s degree in nursing education and taught nursing students at Rogers State University for several years.

Stacie decided to become a provider because she felt she could make a positive impact on children and their families’ lives. She has a true passion for caring for children and approaches them as if they were her own, with patience, compassion, and sensitivity. She loves developing relationships with families and being able to offer support and guidance to parents on how to best care for their children.
